In 1985, he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Polytechnic School in Algiers, Algeria. He continued his studies in France, where he completed a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Process Engineering at the National School of Electrochemistry and Electrometallurgy in Grenoble in 1986. Subsequently, he earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Toulouse, France, in 1989.

Throughout his illustrious career spanning over three decades, Mustapha Douani has held various academic and research positions, demonstrating his expertise and commitment to the field of chemical engineering.
