Subsequently, she underwent postgraduate training, including an internship at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, and residency and chief residency in Cardiology at the same institution. In 1958, she became a Senior Assistant Resident at Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA, and later a Fellow in Cardiology at Emory.

Her  professional journey includes various academic and clinical appointments, beginning with her role as an Instructor in Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine and Emory University School of Dentistry from 1959 to 1962.
