Subsequently, she underwent postgraduate training, including an internship at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, and residency and chief residency in Cardiology at the same institution. In 1958, she became a Senior Assistant Resident at Grady Memorial Hospital, Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA, and later a Fellow in Cardiology at Emory.
