Ms . Shubhra Singh - Environmental Genetics - Best Researcher Award

National Pingtung University of Science and Technology | Taiwan

Author Profile

Early Academic Pursuits

She has cultivated a robust foundation in the biological sciences through her dedicated academic journey. Her early academic pursuits were marked by a strong focus on biotechnology and plant sciences. During her undergraduate studies, she undertook a summer internship project on the overexpression analysis of Armadillo genes in Arabidopsis thaliana at Delhi University-South campus. This early exposure to advanced genetic techniques laid the groundwork for her future research interests and professional endeavors.

Professional Endeavors

Currently, she is a Doctoral Researcher in the Functional Genomics Laboratory, Department of Biological Science and Technology, at the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology in Taiwan. In this role, she is engaged in cutting-edge research in the field of functional genomics, contributing to significant advancements in biotechnology. Prior to this, she worked as an Assistant Scientist at Patanjali Research Institute in Haridwar, India. At Patanjali, she was involved in a project on the Patanjali Herbal Compendium within the Herbal Research Department. Her industry experience also includes a TEEPA siaPlus Internship Project on the antibacterial activity of probiotic bacteria from Bene Bac Plus against plant diseases under the supervision of Dr. Douglas J. H. Shyu.

Contributions and Research Focus in Environmental Genetics

Her research contributions are diverse and impactful, spanning various aspects of biotechnology and functional genomics. One of her notable projects includes a six-month investigation on the recycling of organic food waste into water under Prof. P.K. Dantu from Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra. Her research focus is particularly centered on the interaction between plant probiotics and disease resistance, a sustainable approach that could revolutionize agricultural practices. This focus was highlighted in her poster presentation titled “Integration of Plant Probiotics Microbiome in Disease Resistance: A Sustainable Approach” at The International Conference on Arabidopsis Research (ICAR) in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Accolades and Recognition

She has received numerous accolades and fellowships in recognition of her outstanding contributions to science and research. She was honored with the Best Employee Award at Patanjali Research Institute in 2020, reflecting her dedication and exceptional performance. Additionally, she received the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) Fellowship for her doctoral research at the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology. Her academic excellence was further acknowledged through the Best Poster Presentation award at the Annual Conference on Food Biotechnology, Medical and Agricultural Biotechnology for her work on “Characterization of Microbial Proteases and Their Activity Against Plant Pathogens.” Another significant recognition was an honorable mention for her poster presentation on “Bibliometric Survey of Antimicrobial Compounds from Bacillus amyloliquefaciencs against Plant Pathogens” at the 4th Taiwan Epigenomics Symposium and International Conference on Biotechnology and Healthcare.

Impact and Influence

Her research has had a profound impact on the field of biotechnology, particularly in the areas of plant disease resistance and sustainable agricultural practices. Her work on the antibacterial properties of probiotic bacteria and the integration of plant probiotics into disease management strategies has the potential to lead to more environmentally friendly and effective agricultural practices. Her contributions are not only advancing scientific knowledge but also providing practical solutions to real-world problems in agriculture.

Legacy and Future Contributions

Looking forward, she aims to continue her pioneering work in functional genomics and biotechnology. Her current position as a Doctoral Researcher allows her to explore new frontiers in genetic research and its applications in agriculture and environmental sustainability.
