He obtained his Master’s Degree in Biology from the University of Genoa in 1988, and later pursued a Ph.D. in Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Pisa in 1993, with joint research activity at the University of Ghent, Belgium. His passion for marine ecosystems and their complex interactions formed the foundation for a prolific academic and research career. From an early stage, Danovaro demonstrated a commitment to bridging the gap between marine biology and environmental stewardship.
